CHICAGO, Ill. (April 23, 2015) — The Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics has recognized Jaclyn St. John as Idaho’s Young Dietitian of the Year.
St. John is a registered dietitian with the Idaho Dairy Council and oversees the curriculum and materials provided to all health and school professionals in the state of Idaho. As health and wellness manager, she also coordinates health fairs, workshops and Fuel Up to Play 60 events at Idaho schools. Launched by the National Dairy Council, the Idaho Dairy Council and the NFL, the national program is designed to help prevent childhood obesity and help youth develop life-long healthy eating and daily physical activity habits.
“We are very proud of Jaclyn and the work she does on behalf of Idaho’s dairy farm families to promote nutrition and healthy activities throughout the state,” said Crystal Wilson, Senior Director of Health and Wellness with the Idaho Dairy Council. “Not only is Jaclyn deserving of this recognition, she is a role model for other young dietitians in her passion and enthusiasm for her role in the industry.”
The purpose of the Young Dietitian of the Year program is to recognize the competence and activities of younger dietitians in the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics and to encourage their continued participation in association affairs. This group will be an additional resource from which the leadership of the association will develop both at the district, state, and national levels.
Prior to her work at the Idaho Dairy Council, St. John worked at St. Luke’s Health System in Boise and Meridian as a clinical dietitian. She earned her bachelor’s degree in dietetics and clinical nutrition services from Central Washington University and her master’s degree in human sciences from Texas A&M – Kingsville.
