“The 12th Man Smoothie”

By: Landon Lee 6th grader student leader

3-4 pieces of ice

1 stalk of celery chopped

1 Handful of Kale

1 cup of frozen blue berries

1 cup of Greek vanilla yogurt

Splash of Orange Juice

Step 1: Take out your blender and plug it in.

Step 2: Start with fruit. Set aside three or four blueberries for the end. Pour in 1 cup of frozen Blueberries. This will make up the base of your smoothie.

Step 3: Add the liquids. This becomes the main part of your smoothie. Add 1 cup of Greek vanilla yogurt. The yogurt will make your smoothie thick.  Add two ounces of Orange Juice.

Step 4: Add the greens: 1 handful of Kale and 1 stalk of celery chopped to the mix. (Reserve a half of a stalk for the end) This gives the smoothie a healthy boost that doesn’t lack in taste.

Step 5: Add Ice Cubes: Three to four piece of ice will be plenty for a single serving. Adding too much ice can thin your smoothie.

Step 6: Blend It: Put the lid on the blender, and turn it on medium speed. As the substance gets to a more liquid state you can turn the blender to high speed.

Step 7: Turn Off: Turn the switch to off and pour your smoothie into glass when it has reached desired texture.

Step 8: Garnish your smoothie: Add loose blueberries and half of a stalk of celery in glass for looks and taste.

“Bull Berry Smoothie”

 

Ingredients:

2 cups ice

1 cup Greek vanilla yogurt

¼ cup milk

¼ cup apple juice

1 ½ cups mixed frozen strawberries, blueberries, & raspberries

1 cup spinach

1 small banana

2 tablespoons honey

¼ teaspoon cayenne pepper

 

Directions:

Combine all ingredients in a blender until smooth.  Enjoy.

Serves 3
