Get In the Game With School Lunch

Hear from Child Nutrition Director Heather Plain of Bonneville School District on National School Lunch Week and the innovation in Child Nutrition that’s helping kids eat healthier every day!

NSLW14 logoThis week is National School Lunch Week and Bonneville School District is celebrating the wonderful things that are happening in Child Nutrition. Our cafeteria is full of prizes and all sorts of fun! Registered Dietitian Chef, Brenda Thompson, gave us great food landscaping techniques during a previous school training. We are working to display foods in a way that is fun and appealing for students. Bonneville School District works hard to integrate student preference into our menus. We have a student committee that chose a new pizza for this year. It goes without saying that it has been a huge hit!

Bonneville School District is excited as the new school year begins. We have many new items on our menu and are eager to share them with the students. Last year Bonneville was very fortunate to get smoothie blenders for all of our schools through the Idaho Dairy Council. The kids love the new smoothies!

We have had many opportunities through the Fuel Up to Play 60 program to bring together nutrition and exercise to benefit our children. Bonneville School District is looking forward to working with all of our schools and FUTP60 this year to look for equipment that will benefit our students and help us to continually improve the nutrition in school meals.

At Bonneville we aim to be “leaders of Child Nutrition committed to providing tools for growth and learning.”
